No Good Deed Goes Unpunished!
1/26/2010 - Written By Dr. JoySo my accountant forgot to file for some of the donations I gave to
charity this past holiday season and there is not much I can say but
that "no good deed goes unpunished"
It's just one of those sort of "givens" in life (pun intended) that all
of us "do-gooders" don't always reap the rewards for our deeds. But
this is not all bad luck and the world rearing it's ugly head at us.
Most of the time this sort of thing happens because good people believe
that they are always on the side of the angels because of their
"do-gooding", so therefore they don't have to be prepared or organized
or have follow through. We believe that because we are doing something
nice, everything will simply fall in to place, and we don't have to
worry about how we go about things. For example, I went to a
benefit the other night, and the chairman of the organization (whom I'm
sure is a very nice and well-intentioned man) thought he could totally
just wing his speech. He was totally unprepared and looked like a
blubbering fool. Now I'm sure he was thinking to himself "well, here
we are at this beautiful benefit for charity, and that all just speaks
for itself". Well, no sir, it didn't. No matter how nice you are, and
how well you mean, you've gotta work just as hard as the rest of the
world. Even Mother Theresa had to dot her i's and cross her t's.
