You know, we should all be thankful for 800 numbers, because after all, 800-544-7070 is what you, the public call me on.  And after all, they are what have made syndicated programming possible to begin with.  Imagine if you folks in Canada had to call me up on a local New York City number?  Now I know you like my advice and all but I can’t imagine you’d want to shell out that kind of cash for just a few minutes of air time.  Phone numbers and the evolution of telephone use has really changed the world as we know it.  Back in the day you could conduct an affair from your home phone late at night.  But no no no, Tiger Woods, caller ID and monthly phone bills have the evidence right there in black and white.  And don’t forget about *69 and *67.  But I’ve got another phone fact that’ll actually help you or save you some money as well as some irritation.  You know, starting February 1^st you will be billed for all incoming calls and that includes telemarketers.  So if you want to avoid getting charged for all of those relentless telemarketing calls then you should register with “The National Do Not Call Registry” to block those pests permanently.  Register online at www.donotcall.gov or call toll free 1 888 382 1222 from the number you wish to register.
